Happy Solly-ween

We hope amidst the drama of this presidential election, the economic meltdown, and shorter days, you are still finding ways to enjoy Fall. Having Sol around sure makes everything feel a lot better. Recent milestones include a crapload of teeth (and even more popping through as I write), sitting up, commando-slithering on the floor (still no crawling), and increased cuteness. Summertime with Solly

We're suffering from weather amnesia since summer has arrived here in Seattle. Did it ever rain here? Ha. Enjoy some recent shots of the little man as he grows less little each day:

Have we reached the zenith of cute?

Sol gets a bit sweeter and wiser each day. See him during recent travels to California, the Gorge, and our fave local hot spots: http://picasaweb.google.com/Hougland.Ramirez/4MonthsOfSolly

Our golden piglet is a RAT!

We are over the moon for our new son, Solomon Hazel Hougland Ramirez. Born Sunday, February 10th at 8:17pm, Seattle WA. Weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces. He's a bona fide sweetheart.

We've just returned home after three long days in the hospital. In a true introduction to parenthood, none of our sweet and whimsical birth preferences went as planned and Sol came out a week late via urgent c-section. Highlights of the topsy-turvy 18-hour labor included: mom's high blood pressure, a presumed placental abruption that led to insane contractions with little progress (dilation of cervix) and fetal distress in the form of baby's repeated tanking heart rate. The story has a gorgeous ending, though: Sol is now here and WE ADORE HIM!

WAITING FOR THE PIGLET HAIKUS

Tick tock tick tock tick
thumbs twiddle impatiently
due date's but a guess

Babe says, "Ha! 'early'?!
(Nostradamus she is not)
See, I'm still cooking."

She told everyone,
"This piglet will come early"
What if I'm a rat?
